Gloria Koch Leonidas Memorial Scholarship Application
Application for the IES Seattle chapter’s Gloria Koch Leonidas Memorial Scholarship to attend an approved conference in 2026. This scholarship was established to help students and emerging lighting professionals to attend a conference to advance their education and experience.
Applicant Qualifications:
College students and developing professionals with an interest in lighting and living within the Greater Seattle area with 5 years or less of professional lighting .
Qualifying Lighting Events:
LEDucation – New York City, NY – April 14-15, 2026
IES Annual Conference – Denver, CO – August 13-15, 2026
IES Street and Area Conference – Pheonix, AZ – November 8-11, 2026
IALD Enlighten Americas – Austin, TX – October 15-17, 2026
IES education classes (cost of class)
Other conferences may be eligible, please submit information for review and consideration
Scholarship Amount:
Award allocation is based on sponsorship funds available and will be notified to winners at time of award and prior to booking travel. The intent is to award recipients’ travel costs, including airfare, accommodations and conference registration.
Step One:
- Provide a resume or CV of your experience and education and why you’re interested in lighting.
- Provide one letter of recommendation from an established lighting or design industry professional. This person can be a direct supervisor or senior person at your company.
- Please provide answers to the following questions:

- Describe any previous involvement with IES (local chapter, national, student chapter, or other). Include any events attended, committees participated in, or volunteer roles held.
- How do you plan to stay actively involved with the IES Seattle Chapter following the conference you plan to attend?
- How will attending this conference or training contribute to your professional growth and development?
- What responsibility do you feel scholarship recipients have to the IES community, and how would you honor that responsibility?
Step Two:
For the final selection, you may be interviewed by members of the IES Puget Sound Scholarship committee for final approval. This will be a virtual process and not in-person.
- Applications and letters of recommendation should be submitted before March 27, 2025.
- A PDF of your submission package should be emailed to jeremy@pnwlts.com
- This scholarship will be awarded no later than April 10, 2025.
- Proof of approved conference registration will be requested prior to award.
